Forskningsbeskrivning

Risk och prognos vid hjärtkirurgi - nationella registerstudier

Vår forskning syftar till att bättre förstå olika faktorers betydelse för prognos efter hjärtkirurgi. Vi använder epidemiologiska metoder och sammanlänkar kliniskt relevant information från flera nationella hälsodataregister. Målsättningen är att genom ökad kunskap bidra till förbättrad överlevnad och minskad sjuklighet hos patienter som genomgår hjärtkirurgi. Vi intresserar oss särskilt för depression, diabetes, njurfunktion och transfusion av blodprodukter.

Aortaklaffproteser

Vid aortaklaffsjukdom är det många gånger nödvändigt att genomgå hjärtkirurgi för att avlägsna den sjuka aortaklaffen och ersätta den med en konstgjord hjärtklaff (aortaklaffprotes). Idag styrs valet av protes i stor utsträckning av patientens ålder. Projektet undersöker protesspecifika faktorer som är relaterade till sjuklighet och död efter aortaklaffoperation. Vi undersöker också skillnader i långtidsresultat efter implantation av olika protestyper. Målsättningen är att ökad kunskap och förståelse om olika aortaklaffprotesers egenskaper skall leda till ett bättre val av klaffprotes för den enskilda patienten.

Riskmodeller vid hjärtsvikt

Riskprediktionsmodeller för överlevnad hos patienter med hjärtsvikt hjälper läkare att bedöma prognos, vilket i sin tur är nödvändigt inför beslut om avancerad hjärtsviktsbehandling som till exempel mekanisk stödpump eller hjärttransplantation. Projektet drivs i sambete med Lars Lund och avser att dels utvärdera nya riskmodeller samt att validera befintliga riskmodeller i nya patientgrupper.
