Jag är vikarierande rektor vid Karolinska Institutet (KI) från 18 februari 2016 och professor i Molekylär Endokrinologi. Den 1 januari 2016 blev jag prorektor på KI. 2009 tom. augusti 2015 var jag prefekt vid institutionen för Biovetenskaper och Näringslära. Mellan september 2013 och juni 2015 var jag KI Scientific Director, SciLifeLab, med speciellt ansvar för de Nationella plattformarna och ingick i SciLifeLabs operationella ledning. 1994-2000 innehade jag linjechefs- och projektledar- befattningar vid Pharmacia och Upjohn. 2001 grundade jag BEA, en core facilitet som tillhandahåller avancerade tjänster inom området genomik och bioinformatik vid Karolinska Institutet där jag fortfarande är involverad. Jag deltar i det strategiska forskningsområdet inom Diabetes vid KI.

Förtroendeuppdrag (utvalda)

Jag är medlem i SciLifeLab Stockholms styrgrupp samt den gemensamma styrgruppen för Astra Zeneca/KI/SciLifeLab samarbetet. Jag är också medlen i referensgruppen för europeiska spallationskällan ESS. Jag har innehaft flera förtroende uppdrag inom beredning av forskningsansökningar både inom Sverige och utomlands. Jag har bl.a. verkat som ordförande, vice ordförande samt medlem av beredningsgrupper inom VR. Jag har deltagit i utvärdering av forskning på uppdrag av det Norska forskningsrådet. Jag var medlem av KI-SLL infrastrukturrådet 2007-2008 samt 2015-. Jag har deltagit i utredning inom justitiedepartementet vad gäller patent inom bioteknologi och är utsedd som expert i patentmål.

Forskningsbeskrivning

Min forskning fokuserar på studier av östrogen signalering med specifikt fokus på typ 2 diabetes och bröstcancer. Vi studerar fenotyper hos musmodeller med vävnadsselektiv knock-out av östrogen receptorer och relaterar detta till molekylära förändringar av exempelvis globalt genuttryck. Vi använder olika bröst cancer cell modeller och teknologier inom funktionsgenomik, ChIP SEQ, global genexpressions analys samt proteomik, för att identifiera signalvägar som kan inkludera möjliga målmolekyler för behandling av bröstcancer.
