Om mig

Jag är docent i reproduktiv hälsa, legitimerad sjuksköterska och barnmorska. Dessutom har jag en master i folkhälsovetenskap och är doktor i medicinsk vetenskap med inriktning mot internationell hälsa. För närvarande arbetar jag som forskare och lärare på Barnmorskeutbildningen vid Institutionen för Kvinnors och Barns Hälsa, Karolinska Institutet. Förutom att bedriva forskning är jag engagerad som ledamot i Barnmorskeförbundets Vetenskapliga råd.

Forskningsbeskrivning

Som barnmorska och folkhälsovetare bedriver jag epidemiologisk registerbaserad forskning, främst inom ämnesområdet reproduktiv hälsa med specifikt fokus på komplicerade graviditeter och förlossningar. Mina tidigare studier handlar bland annat om sfinkterskador i samband med förlossning, epiduralbedövningar och invandrarkvinnors reproduktiva hälsa.

Sedan 2010 leder jag ett forskningsprojekt om sugklockor vid förlossningar. Projektet, som finansieras av Vetenskapsrådet, syftar till att få en mer detaljerad kunskap om hur handläggningen och tekniken vid sugklockeförlossning påverkar barns hälsa på kort och lång sikt. Forskningen sker i nära samarbete med förlossningsläkare, barnläkare, sjuksköterskor, barnmorskor och epidemiologer. Vår forskning har visat att barn som förlöses med sugklocka har en ökad risk att drabbas av hjärnblödning i samband med förlossningen. För närvarande studerar vi orsakerna till detta.
