Etableringsstöd till yngre forskare – SSMF:s stora anslag

Svenska Sällskapet för Medicinsk Forskning (SSMF) utlyser härmed anslag för 4-åriga hel- och halvtidstjänster, de senare avsedda för kliniskt verksamma forskare, samt ett tillhörande driftskostnadsanslag. Syftet är att ge yngre, lovande forskare möjlighet att etablera sig som självständiga forskare. Stödet är inriktat mot disputerade forskare med post-doktoral meritering. Heltidstjänsten kan kombineras med max 20 procents bisyssla, exempelvis klinisk tjänst.

Open Call for Proposals 2017 - LifeGene and EpiHealth

Scientists from all medical and behavioral disciplines are invited to apply for access to data and/or samples from LifeGene and EpiHealth. LifeGene and EpiHealth are national collaborative projects designed to build up a resource for research in all medical and bio behavioral disciplines, enabling research on a variety of questions.

Uppdrag som nationellt referenslaboratorium - Folkhälsomyndigheten – Public Health Agency of Sweden

Detta bidrag syftar till att uppnå en minskad sårbarhet, ökad effektivitet och en hållbar och jämlik mikrobiologisk verksamhet för hälso- och sjukvården. Basanslag är värt mellan SEK 95,000 och SEK 190,000 per år.

Forskartjänster - Hjärt-Lungfonden – Swedish Heart-Lung Foundation

Dessa bidrag stöder fleråriga tjänster för forskare med docentkompetens, där tjänsterna är främst avsedda som karriärutvecklingstjänster för yngre forskare vilka kan förväntas få ledande vetenskapliga positioner i framtiden. Bidrag uppgår till maximalt SEK 105,000 per månad i högst sex år.

Johnny Ludvigsson prize for excellent research in childhood and adolescent diabetes - Barndiabetesfonden

This prize recognises a Nordic citizen who has conducted research in diabetes clinically in children and adolescents, epidemiologically on childhood and adolescent diabetes or experimentally regarding Type 1 diabetes. The award includes a cash prize of SEK 250,000 and a diploma.

Barndiabetesfondens Johnny Ludvigsson-pris till yngre barndiabetesforskare i Sverige

Varje år delar Barndiabetsfonden ut två priser i Johnny Ludvigssons namn till framstående barndiabetesforskare i Norden och i Sverige. Priset till yngre barndiabetesforskare består av en penningsumma på 50.000 svenska kronor samt ett diplom och går till forskare som inte fyllt 45 år den 16 oktober det aktuella året.

Seeding progress and resources for the cancer community (SPARC) grants - Union for International Cancer Control

These aim to close the gap in information, support, awareness and policy between metastatic breast cancer and early breast cancer, as well as help reduce the number of women diagnosed at the metastatic stage of breast cancer. Approximately 20 grants, worth USD 25,000 each on average for up to 18 months, are available.

EFSD/JDS reciprocal travel research fellowships - European Association for the Study of Diabetes

These enable applicants to carry out a collaborative scientific project. Up to four fellowships will be awarded, each worth up to €50,000 over one to 12 months.

Project grants - Worldwide Cancer Research

These support fundamental and translational research into the causes, mechanisms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of cancer. Grants are worth up to £250,000 each over one to three years, although most projects receive up to £200,000.

Information and training measures for workers' organisations - Directorate-General for Employment, Social Affairs & Inclusion

This supports measures and initiatives that strengthen the capacity of worker’s organisations to address changes in employment and work and social dialogue related challenges at an EU or transnational level. Grants are worth between €150,000 and €500,000.

EFSD/JDRF/Lilly European programme in type 1 diabetes research grants - European Association for the Study of Diabetes

These promote the highest quality of basic and clinical biomedical research, expedite the practical application of scientific advances, encourage clinical translational research and increase awareness of type 1 diabetes. Grants are normally worth up to €100,000 for a minimum period of one year. Grants of up to €400,000 will be considered for clinical projects.

Coming soon: Bone Marrow Failure Research Programs (BMFRP) – US Department of Defense (DoD)

FY17 BMFRP Program Announcement and General Application Instructions and deadlines for this Idea Development Award are anticipated to be posted on Grants.gov in April 2017. This award supports innovative ideas and high-impact approaches based on scientifically sound evidence to move toward the vision to understand and cure bone marrow failure. Clinical trials will not be supported. Maximum funding of $315,000 in direct costs (plus indirect costs), and period of performance not to exceed 2 years.

These funding opportunities will be available soon. The next calls are expected to open in May 2017.

Investigator-initiated focused research award: This supports research from idea generation through preclinical validation under two tiers, the discovery tier and the applied tier.
 
Qualitative research award: This supports qualitative research on Persian Gulf War veterans with Gulf War illness, with the purpose of developing educational materials for veterans, their family members, caregivers and health care providers.

Biospecimen research network award: This supports the development and maintenance of a Gulf War illness biorepository by facilitating the collection of prospective and pre-existing biospecimens and biological data, biospecimen processing, annotation, storage and distribution.

Coming soon: Gulf War illness clinical consortium award – US Department of Defense (DoD)

This opportunity will be available soon. The next call is expected to open in May 2017. The US Department of Defense invites applications for its clinical consortium award. This supports a consortium that will conceive, design, develop, and conduct collaborative phase I and II clinical evaluations of promising therapeutic agents for the management or treatment of Gulf war illness.

Biomarkers for diabetes, digestive, kidney and urologic diseases using biosamples from the NIDDK repository (R01) - NIH: National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases, US

This funding opportunity supports assays and data analysis of repository-held samples for studies focused on a disease relevant to the institute. Studies should generate discoveries on disease mechanisms, pathogenic processes, disease progression or clinical responses. Application budgets are limited to USD 250,000 in direct costs per year for a maximum of three years.

Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI) Explorer Awards - Simons Foundation, US

The Simons Foundation, under the Autism Research Initiative program, invites applications for its Explorer Awards. These support innovative, high-risk research that advances understanding of the mechanisms underlying autism spectrum disorders or potential therapeutic approaches, including studies focused on gene discovery, molecular mechanisms, circuits, anatomy, cognition and behaviour. Applications are encouraged from investigators who are new to the field of autism but who have expertise that could be brought to bear on this complex disorder. Applications are for a maximum of $70,000, including indirect costs, for one year, non-renewable.

Closing dates: Applications are considered on a rolling basis, with a response time as early as 30 days.

2017 Bridge Grants -National Psoriasis Foundation, US

The National Psoriasis Foundation (NPF) is offering Bridge Grants to support researchers who have submitted meritorious but unfunded K- and R- applications to the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) with a focus on psoriatic disease or related comorbidities. Through this special opportunity, NPF intends to provide a critical year of additional support to near-miss applicants so that they can collect data to strengthen a future application. Applicants may request up to $100,000 for R-Grant bridge funds (direct costs only) per year.

Closing dates: Applications will be accepted year-round.

2017 Bridge Grants - National Psoriasis Foundation, US 

Research grant - International Retinal Research Foundation, US

The IRRF invites requests for its 2017 research grants. These support scientific research on diseases of the human eye, especially its centre, the macula, and peripheral retinal research that ultimately will accelerate the outcome of discovery. Specific consideration will be given to scientists actively working toward discovering the causes, prevention, and cures of macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. Grants will be made up to $200,000 at $100,000 per year.

Closing dates: Submission deadline is May 1, 2017.

Troland research awards - National Academies, US

The National Academy of Sciences invites nominations for the Troland research awards. These recognise achievements by young investigators and encourage empirical research in experimental psychology. Applicants must be aged 40 or younger. Two awards, worth USD 75,000 each, are available.

Closing dates: Nominations are invited between April 2017 and 2 October 2017. This call is repeated once a year.
