Research area
One of the main issues within genetic epidemiology research is to try to understand how inheritance and environment affect health and behaviour. This is partly done with twin and family studies. There are unique conditions for this research in Sweden; not only do we have the world's largest twin register, but also many other registers that make it possible to follow individuals over time. The Swedish Twin Registry is a resource for researchers in Sweden and abroad, and many national and international studies are in progress.
