About the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery

The Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery (MMK) carries out both preclinical and clinical research within numerous fields. Linked to the department are approximately 450 researchers, postgraduate students, teachers and technical & administrative staff.

Postgraduate studies

Postgraduate studies comprise several subjects, read more under Education/Postgraduate studies. We currently have about 150 PhD students.

Undergraduate studies

The department is conducting undergraduate courses for medical students, physiotherapist students, biomedicine students and biomedical laboratory students.

Research

26 research groups are responsible for the research of the department. Responsibility for postgraduate studies, research, staff, working environment and finances has been delegated to the research group leaders. We work continually on the identification and recruitment of new research groups of relevance for the activities of the department.

Administration

The department's Administration Team supplies administrative services to research groups and management in financial, personnel and educational matters. It is headed by the chief administrator, who is also a member of the departmental management.
