Internationalisation strategy

Karolinska Institutet has developed an internationalisation strategy to facilitate prioritisation and strategic investments. Three strategic areas for development have been identified, and a number of activities have already been initiated within these areas. The next step is to break down goals and strategies into action plans based on the needs within each part of the organisation. All departments and units of the university can contribute to the goals by identifying activities and actions to be taken within their own organisation.

Your department/unit can contribute by identifying activities and actions to be taken within your organisation. Below you find a number of examples of activities within the three identified strategic areas, as well as where you can turn for support.

Objective 1: Integrate an international perspective throughout the university

Further develop the reception of foreign staff and students, locally and centrally. Develop meeting platforms for integration between Swedish and foreign employees and students. Make sure that the perspectives of foreign staff and students are taken into account at all times. Make sure that all relevant information is translated into English.

Objective 2: Develop strategic alliances

Are you planning to enter into a formal international agreement? Make sure you contact one of the international coordinators if you have any questions.

Has your department entered into a formal international agreement during the last year? A good idea is to present these in the annual report of the department every year.

Objective 3: Strengthen the Karolinska Institutet brand internationally

Use tools and support offered to heads of departments and units when representing Karolinska Institutet in various contexts abroad. Find useful templates and information at the graphic profile site.

Use tools and support by the press officer for international relations when you have large international activities and news.

Inform the press officers at and the KI news desk when you think there is a news value.
