Strategic research programmes
The strategic research programmes is an effort by the Swedish government in certain selected areas. Karolinska Institutet has received funding for six of seven fields: stem cells, diabetes, neuroscience, cancer, epidemiology and health research. KI also received funding for a joint application with the Royal Institute of Technology in the molecular biosciences.
Karolinska Institute has also set up eight thematic center together with the Stockholm County Council. Some of them coincides with a strategic research programme.
Here we present how the Karolinska Institutet intends to work within the strategic research programmes and theme centers.
