Occupational and Environmental Medicine
Occupational and Environmental Medicine consists of three units:
- Intervention and Implementation Research
- Occupational and Environmental Dermatology
- Occupational Medicine
The aim is to promote occupational and environmental health by:
- Research and development
- Identifying and analysing risk factors and ill-health
- Examining patients
- Providing expert knowledge to different parties in society
- Education and dissemination of knowledge
Epidemiological, experimental and clinical methods are used in research and development. There is close cooperation with the Department of Community Medicine at Karolinska University Hospital with its outpatient clinic. The Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine was established in 2009 when parts of the organisation were transferred from the Stockholm County Council to Karolinska Institutet.
