Current position: Teacher in the postgraduate operating room nursing programme
Rose-Marie Gabrielson saw an opportunity to develop her knowledge and skills as a teacher when she heard about the Master's Programme in Medical Education at Karolinska Institutet. The fact that it was half time, web based and used distance learning made the studies possible for her as a professional employee. She also liked that the programme is interprofessional and held in English so that students from all over the world can participate.
'As a teacher, you need to be updated in your own field as well as in the ongoing higher education reforms.' Rose-Marie says.
Rose-Marie fondly remembers how well her group collaborated on course work, and how she recently participated in virtual online seminars with student colleagues from the Czech Republic, Finland, Norway and Sweden.
She continues that she loves seeing her students grow:
'To follow the students' journeys as they develop their knowledge and skills and become competent professionals ... is the most rewarding part of my work.'
By the time she graduates, she hopes that the programme will have helped her to continue to develop the education within her own practice as well as on an international level.
