Short background

Cecilia Mikaelsson

I graduated from the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH, Stockholm) in 2010 with a M.Sc. in Molecular Biotechnology. Since then I´ve been working as a Lab. Engineer in the Human Protein Atlas (HPA) project, Immunotechnology module.

Why do you want to work at CIM?

I´ve been thinking about starting my doctoral education for a while, and when I heard about a position in this group I decided to apply since I´m fascinated by crystallography. The project seemed very interesting and I decided to go for it.

What makes crystallography fascinating?

X-ray crystallography is fascinating because you are able to produce pictures of proteins. Crystallography is in itself extremely complicated, and proteins are complicated structures and it is beautiful to be able to visualize them.
