Sickness absence and return to work after coronary revascularization. A national epidemiological study.

Cardiovascular disease is a major public health problem. In Sweden, each year about 10 000 people under the age of 65 undergo coronary revascularization by coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) or percutaneous coronar intervention (PCI). Compared to other countries Sweden has significantly longer sick-leave spells related to coronary revascularization and guidelines in this respect based on evidence based knowledge is essentially lacking.
