Proteomics Karolinska
Proteomics offers highly complementary information to genomics. As most biological functions are transmitted through proteins; proteomics has yielded new biology and insight into disease. Mass spectrometry (MS) technologies allow proteins to be analyzed rapidly, accurately and with high sensitivity.
Proteomics Karolinska includes two major units at Karolinska Institutet / Karolinska University Hospital that performs MS-based protein analysis: Research proteomics (PK/KI) at Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics and Clinical proteomics (PK/KS) at Science for Life Laboratory
Core facilities are managed by institutions or units within Karolinska Institutet or associated Hospitals. Service Laboratories and Resources operate on a fee per service basis while Competence Centra aim to disseminate specific technologies and know how on a collaborative basis. Policies regarding services, access, fees and prioritization vary by core facilities.
