Elisabeth Olsson
Elisabeth Olsson is professor emerita in physiotherapy at Karolinska Institutet. She gained her PhD in 1986 for a thesis on gait analysis in hip and knee surgery.
Her work consisted of further developing a path as a method for analysing the condition of patients after operations for hip and knee replacements, and in finding successful methods for rehabilitation.
As a result of Elisabeth's research, physiotherapy today enjoys more relevant and reliable methods for diagnosis and evaluation of treatment. Her work has contributed in academising the profession and winning it respect - not only as a logical function in the clinical holistic cycle, but also within the academic world.
Elisabeth is still active as a researcher and has been awarded a large research grant for developing new methods for training and evaluating the balance in the elderly.
