Dr. George William Byaruhanga PARIYO (MBChB, MSc, PhD), is a Medical Officer and focal point, Evidence and Knowledge for Country Action, the Global Health Workforce Alliance, World Health Organization, Geneva, Switzerland. He has extensive academic, management and consulting experience in delivery of health care and education of health personnel at various levels for over 22 years.
His areas of expertise include health systems research, health policy and planning, financing, leadership, organizational development, management and development of health systems and health workforce development including policy, planning, basic and post-basic education and in-service training. He has served as consultant for various national, bilateral and multilateral agencies, governments and universities, and has published widely in leading scientific peer-reviewed journals. He was inducted into the Delta Omega Honor Society in Public Health, Alpha Chapter, in 2010. Formerly (2003-2009) Associate Professor and Head, Department of Health Policy, Planning and Management, Makerere University School of Public Health, Kampala, Uganda. Formerly District Medical Officer (Hoima District and Kitgum District, Uganda).
