Spirometry event 2010

  • Spirometry at Stockholm Central Station

1650 persons tested their lungs

To test lung function is just as important as to measure blood pressure and blood glucose! During two days, 14th and 15th October 2010, CfA organised free lung function tests for the general public at Stockholm Central Station. The event was part of the World Spirometry Day. A total number of 1650 persons took the opportunity to measure their lung function.

A substantial number of the tested persons had a decreased lung function that had not been diagnosed previously. Others had a perfectly normal lung function.

CfA wishes to express their sincere gratitude to all personnel, who worked on a voluntary basis. They were from research units, hospitals and other care facilities within Stockholm County Council, and a number of private primary care centres in the Stockholm area.

The lung function tests were carried out with support from the Swedish Heart Lung Foundation, the Swedish Asthma and Allergy Foundation, the Swedish Association against Heart and Lung Diseases, The Vårdal Foundation, The Quit Smoking Line, as well as the companies Medic24, Boehringer Ingelheim, AstraZeneca, GSK, NycoMed and Novartis.

The results of the tests will be analysed and published later on.
