Histiocytoses and Hematology

The major aim of our studies is to improve survival and reduce long-term sequele in children affected by cancer and blood disorders, with focus on hematological disorders and histiocytoses (hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, HLH, and Langerhans cell histiocytosis, LCH). We aim to develop better treatment regimens, and better diagnostic and monitoring tools.

With the ultimate target to improve treatment and outcome, we also investigate underlying genetics, immunology and biology of the disorders. In addition, we also study psychosocial factors affecting children with cancer and their parents. Our studies range from molecular biology, through cellular studies to clinical studies and psychosocial investigations. They comprise the following main areas which are presented in detail below.

Projects
Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) Clinical Studies
Hemophagocytic Lymphohistiocytosis (HLH) Biological Studies
Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis (LCH)
Hematological disorders [Kostmann's disease (SCN), and ITP]
