Strategic Research Programme in Diabetes (SRP Diabetes)
SRP Diabetes is based on more than 35 research groups at Karolinska Institutet and Umeå University. An integrated research environment in the diabetes area has been formed where results are translated between basic and clinical science with the aim to improve the care and treatment of people with diabetes.

Anna Krook receives the 2026 Knud Lundbæk award from the Scandinavian Society for the Study of Diabetes for her contributions to our understanding of insulin signaling and the onset of insulin resistance.

Prof. Mikael Rydén (MedH) receives a USD 9 million grant to coordinate an international project to investigate how changes in body weight and fat composition affect the development of atherosclerosis. The project is co-directed with Prof. Edward Fisher (New York University), and will be undertaken by researchers from Sweden, US and Denmark.
