Introductory Course
At MEB, we offer an introductory course in epidemiology and biostatistics for all new students at the department (both undergraduate and postgraduate students)in conection with the research orientation, thats starts twice a year.
The first week is an introductory week where the students follow a set schedule which covers relevant theoretical and practical issues. During this week we give a brief introduction to epidemiology and biostatistics and give an introduction to working at MEB and MEB's policies for data-management. There is also a practical introduction to statistical software SAS and STATA.
Following the first week, the students will work on his/her research project in close collaboration with the supervisor. In parallel to the research project, the students will also be part of a "beginner's journal club". This consists of a group of 4-5 students who meet regularly with a member of the junior faculty or a more experienced PhD student to discuss a topic related to epidemiology or biostatistics (usually a scientific paper).
