The Master's Programme in Public Health Sciences offers a range of options and provides a global perspective on public health issues as well as the opportunity to get in-depth knowledge in a number of areas by choosing a track within the programme as well as elective courses and independent projects.
The first year of the education is focused on advancing your knowledge in public health issues, scientific methodology and research preparation led by renowned researchers and professors within the field of public health and medicine.

The following tracks are currently offered:
Public Health Epidemiology
The Epidemiology track suits students with a great interest in using quantitative methods to improve human health. The highly accessible Swedish health registers provide valuable data for students and researchers in the health epidemiology field and the use of these is integrated in the coursework.
Key features of the Epidemiology track include the focus on disease prevention and non-clinical populations. You will during your study time learn to apply sociodemographic, behavioral and risk factors as well as scientific principles to enable disease prevention and evaluation.
The focus on prevention and evaluation is particularly strong in the track compared to other equivalent programmes in the world today. You will acquire analytic tools suitable for a global context.
Health Economics, Policy and Management
The Health Economics, Policy and Management track provides an opportunity to develop theoretical and practical skills for analysing health and health care issues on an organisational and policy level.
The objectives of this track is to give you a solid base for a career in the healthcare and pharmaceutical fields, enhance your existing set of health economics, management and policy skills, and gain theoretical and conceptual understanding of the function of the health sector. The acquired tools will enable you to successfully work within one of the fastest growing fields in the world.
Career opportunities after graduation
You might soon be a health economist, manager or researcher. Upon graduation, you can can expect both a local or a global career either within research or the public sector, or at agencies responsible for environmental and health protection.
