Short presentation of my current research

As a future medical doctor and researcher, one of my greatest interests is trying to understand and prevent disease. My research aims at finding early risk markers for Esophageal carcinoma, globally the sixth leading cancer death. The reason for its high mortality is that it seldom reveals any symptoms before it has reached late stages and by that time it also often has metastasized. In my studies I look for risk markers for Esophageal Squamous Cell Carcinoma in both the microflora and in blood samples. We also follow large cohorts in Sweden, Iran and China hoping to find risk markers and preventing the disease in the future.
