What does KI do?
Karolinska Institutet is a modern university at the heart of the community. If we are to achieve our ambitious objectives where research and education are concerned, all students at KI must be able to develop their potential on the basis of their own qualifications, irrespective of, for example, their gender, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation or disability.
KI has drawn up a strategy plan for the equal treatment of students. The plan is valid for one year, after which it will be evaluated and revised. Active measures in the strategy plan for 2009 centre on three focus areas:
- Reducing the incidence of harassment and discrimination
- Increasing knowledge and awareness of equal treatment
- Reducing the gender imbalance in all categories of employees and students
For more information, see
Under the third focus area of this plan, "Increasing knowledge and awareness of equal treatment", KI has employed a visiting lecturer to instruct and coach KI's teachers on these issues.
KI employs a coordinator for widening participiation and the equal treatment of students. There is also a coordinator for students with disabilities.
