KI-NIH Doctoral Partnership Program in Neuroscience
Karolinska Institutet of Sweden and the National Institutes of Health of the United States of America have a shared interest in fostering collaborative research in mutual areas of excellence at both institutions and a common interest in educating highly professional scientists. To these ends, we establish a Neuroscience Program between our institutions for the training of predoctoral students and to promote ground-breaking research in fundamental areas of Neuroscience and Psychiatry that could lead to a better understanding of brain function, neurological diseases, neuropsychiatric disorders and new medical diagnostics and treatments. The Neuroscience Program will additionally address the advancement of methodology for human brain imaging. The Neuroscience Program will provide the possibility for graduate students, from either the United States or Sweden, to divide their training for a doctoral degree between the two participating Institutes.
Both Karolinska Institutet and NIH will encourage their research personnel to participate in this program and to develop joint research projects. The parties will exchange materials of mutual interest, including such items as scholarly publications, and pertinent research reports, on a voluntary basis. In each Institute, the visiting scholars and exchange students participating in the program shall be subject to the host Institute's policies and regulations concerning research personnel and intellectual property.
NIH investigators interested in establish in contact with KI laboratories are encouraged to contact the group leaders directly.
