Professor Emeritus of Social Medicine at the Department of Public Health Sciences since 1997, emeritus since 2010.
The aim of health promotion is to identify measures that can rectify social inequalities. Since its inception, the research group led by Bo Haglund has concentrated its efforts on practical and theoretical research that increases our understanding of how different types of intervention can be made more effective.
Stockholm's cancer and diabetes prevention programmes have been the starting point for several doctoral students. The research has, in a series of theses, focused on the assessment (community diagnosis) phase, implementation phase and on issues surrounding the evaluation of implemented health promotion interventions.
