Scholarships and funding for the Global Master's Programmes
There are two types of scholarships available for international students required to pay tuition fees.
The Swedish Institute scholarships covers the tuition fee cost of the study programme as well as living expenses. Karolinska Institutet offer a limited number of tuition fee scholarships. The scholarships can only be applied for once per year in connection with the application for a programme, not during ongoing studies.
NB: Both scholarships schemes are only for the Master's level.
The Swedish Institute's scholarships
The Swedish Institute (SI), a government agency, has a number of scholarship schemes open for students from countries outside the EU/EEA area. Depending on your nationality and field of study, the scholarships may apply to you. The SI scholarships cover both tuition fee and living expenses for studies at master's level.

Karolinska Institutet's scholarships
The scholarship round for programmes starting in the autumn 2014 will open 17 October 2013 in connection with the application to the Master's programmes.
The KI scholarships only cover the tuition fee cost, not living expenses, for studies at Master's level.

* Applicants will be notified of the result of their scholarship application individually via e-mail.
The selection process is based on applicant's CV and qualifications that will be evaluated in connection with the application for a KI study programme.

North American student loans
Deferment of student loans in the United States
Karolinska Institutet has been granted 'Deferment Only' status by the US Department of Education. This means that US students may defer making payments on existing federal student loan accounts while enrolled in an eligible program at a deferment only foreign university or college. Student who wish to defer making payments must contact their lending institution in the US. Please note: The 'Deferment Only' status does not allow students to take out federal student loans for enrollment at the university.
Student loans in British Columbia, Canada
Karolinska Institutet is a designated institution for British Columbia student loans. Please contact the international office to obtain the school code. Please note - if you are a Canadian student and applying for loan funding, you must apply for each semester as there is a break after fall term which exceeds the BC Ministry of Advanced Education policy.
