Interprofessional Education

Interprofessional Education at Karolinska Institutet

Karolinska Institutet, a medical university with more than 20 educational programmes in medicine and health care, has a unique possibility to work across professional boarders when educating their students.

Karolinska Institutet offers a suitable environment for creating arenas and meeting places. Since 1998 the University has used these possibilities to enrich clinical programmes in order to promote collaboration between teachers and students across educational boarders; to share experiences and to see one anothers roles in the future professional team.

Karolinska Institutet has now taken a further step in strengthening the clinical parts of education when founding the new Centre for Clinical Education (CCE, in Swedish CKU) . One of the most important tasks for the Centre is to develop the interprofessional education not only in the clinics but also in primary care. National and international collaboration in this field will be reinforced and is already a highly prioritized area for the Board of Education.
