Guidelines for application for admission to doctoral education
At Karolinska Institutet, admission to doctoral education has been delegated to the Department where the student will be registered. It is the head of the department who makes the decision.
To be admitted to doctoral education in the subject of medical science at Karolinska Institutet you must be eligible for postgraduate studies, and have:
- adequate knowledge of the English language,
- an approved individual study plan,
- a realistic financing plan and,
- adequate supervision

CHECKLIST
In order to simplify the process, the Department of Medicine, Solna has a checklist. The checklist must be signed by the main supervisor and the head of the research unit (Note! Not the head of the hospital department).
The complete application, one original (one-sided) and 11 copies (two-sided), together with the checklist, must be submitted to the administrator for doctoral education (Lillemor Melander) at least five weeks before a scheduled meeting by the admission board (see dead line for application).
