The following must be observed when planning your dissertation/licentiate application:
1. To book an examination date
The DATE of your dissertation /licentiate examination must be booked well in advance at the department (A. Häggblad). Not more than one examination at a time can take place at the department.
2. To book a lecture hall
This is made by the PhD student or the supervisor. You can e.g. contact the lecture hall booking service at the hospital (e-mail as below), and also check lecture halls incl. bookings on the website indicated below.
3. Application / signatures
Before handing in the PhD / licentiate application to the Dissertation Committee at KI (at least 10-11 weeks before the examination date), it has to be approved by the "prefekt" and the PhD study director of the Department. To get this approval, please contact in good time the PhD education manager, Astrid Häggblad, who will be of assistance.
NOTE! When the application has been signed accordingly, the PhD student hands it to the Dissertation Committee at KI Campus administrations building (Nobels väg 5).
Your Postgraduate subject and 'Ladok-kod' can be found in your Ladok-web file under the heading "Forskarämne/Subject". It can e.g. be K6MEDV41 Medical Science.
The dissertation will be announced in the KI calendar.
One copy of the thesis should be sent to the Department for filing.
After the examination
the dissertation protocol should be sent to Astrid Häggblad who will attach an updated copy of the student's Ladok files (UT90) and forward it to Karolinska Institutet.
PhD students having defended their thesis some time after November 1st 2012, will have to apply for the degree certificate and diploma supplement. An e-mail message will be sent from KI to each PhD incl. information on the procedure when this is due.
NOTE! Your e-mail account will be discontinued
after the dissertation, i.e. when your PhD studies are discontinued. A prerequisite for keeping your e-mail account is either employment or some kind of formal connection to the Department for which the head of the division is responsible.
