Henrik Druid: Forensic medicine

group
The research projects span over several fields, but are to some extent integrated.

Forensic Medicine at Karolinska Institutet

Forensic Medicine, a part of the Department of Oncology and Pathology at KI takes part in the undergraduate teaching at KI, and is intimately integrated with the routine casework at the Dept of Forensic Medicine in Stockholm at the National Board of Forensic Medicine.

KI Donatum

A core facility at the Karolinska Institute, KI Donatum, has been established in 2004, and offers postmortem material to researchers. Swedish regulations regarding the use of material from deceased subjects are very strict, and special conditions must be fulfilled. KI Donatum offers support in writing applications for ethical approval, and may give suggestions as to study design. Further, KI Donatum provides the practical service regarding continuous surveillance of donors, control of inclusion criteria, and specific collection of tissues, and dependent on project design also processing and storage of material. The use of this service has resulted in publications in Nature, Cell and PNAS (see "Publications").
