Qijun Chen, Our Professor at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences!
Docent Qijun Chen has been appointed professor at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences from 1st of January 2011 after 15 years at MTC and SMI. He is to head the Parasitology Laboratory at the Institute of Pathogen Biology in Beijing.
The Institute of Pathogen Biology (IPB), Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences, is a newly founded national institution specialized in research on important human infectious diseases. IPB is mandated to seek fundamental knowledge on the grand challenges of infectious diseases that threaten human health in order to generate expertise and tools for infectious disease control and prevention.
With its 290 staff scientists and administrative personnel, IPB is now the largest non-profit research institute affiliated to the Ministry of Health, China.
Docent Qijun Chen joined MTC as a postdoc in 1995 in the Wahlgren group. After his postdoc period he was employed at both MTC and SMI and until the end of last year. Dr. Chen will also be affiliated to MTC for the future. With his position at the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences he will facilitate the collaboration between Karolinska Institutet and the top life science research institute in China.
