At the Department of Oncology-Pathology, basic, translational and clinical research and educational activities related to cancer is carried out.
Treatment of hematologic malignancies with chimeric antigen receptor T cells
Jonas Bergh, Arne Östman and Johan Hartman has been involved in a study suggesting that cells of tumour blood vessels contribute to a local environment protecting the cancer cells from tumour-killing immune cells. The results have been published in Journal of the National Cancer Institute and can contribute to the development of better immune-based cancer therapies.
Janne Lehtiö is one of 15 researchers which are appointed as Research Infrastructure Fellows by the Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. The researchers will share a grant of 225 million SEK.
Jonas Bergh has been appointed as a member of the scientific council of the cancer group of WHO, The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC).
