Hirsch Fellowship for Surgeons, spring 2017
The Board of Research hereby invites applications for the Hirsch Fellowship, an opportunity to seek funding for a longer travel period, e.g. for the purpose of learning a new method.
The grant's primary purpose is to provide funding for a longer travel period for the purpose of learning a new method. The grant can cover travel costs and accommodation for up to 6 months.
Registered doctoral students, as well as researchers affiliated to a department at Karolinska Institutet, are eligible to apply.
The applicant also should be a doctor who earned a medical degree or the equivalent at Karolinska Institutet and has been employed as an assistant physician within the surgical disciplines at one of Karolinska Institutet’s training clinics for at least two years.
Priority is given to researchers who have earned their doctoral degrees and are at an early stage of their career.
Normally you can only receive grants for 3 times. If you have previously been awarded a grant from the foundation, you are asked to enclose a research report with your current application.
Awarded grants varies between 50,000 and 200,000 SEK per person.
Period of travel
The departure date must be between July 1, 2017 – June 30, 2018.
Applications must be submitted digitally. The online form will be available through KI Prisma during the application period, February 7 – 21, 2017. The application period closes 2.00 pm.
Decision of grant will be taken by the Board of Research. All applicants will be notified by e-mail in April.
Application forms must be accompanied by the following:
- Project plan
- Letter from home department confirming employment and salary situation during the trip
- Report (1-2 pages) if the same project was previously awarded a grant
