What comes after PUL? New rules for research using personal data in 2018
The current Personal Data Act of Sweden will be terminated in May 2018, and other now existing legislation governing the use of personal data in research will be partly changed. A new Europe-wide regulation, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), will replace PUL. Additional new Swedish laws have been proposed by several official inquiries (SOU:s) and are expected to fill in the gaps of the new regulation where needed, among them a Swedish research data law. It will be necessary to learn these rules. The requirements on documentation to prove that your permissions to use personal data follow the law as well as organizing and documenting all the safeguards surrounding the handling of these data will increase. This lecture covers the basic and most important changes (as well as similarities with the old rules).
The seminar is held in English.
