Researchers and academic life
Karolinska Institutet employs approximately 3,000 researchers, including around 440 full professors. In all, the university hosts more than 2,000 doctoral students. Moreover, the university has many affiliated researchers, such as clinically active researchers or visiting scholars. Many of our researchers come from countries other than Sweden, and the working language in many research groups is English.
KI joins CoARA for the advancement of research assessment
CoARA (Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment) is led by a number of EU organizations with the aim of advancing how research is assessed in order to maximise its quality, transparency and impact. KI has now signed the agreement together with a number of other Swedish universities.
New career path created for research infrastructure specialists
Modern research often uses high-tech methods and tools that require particular expertise. Despite this, there has been no career paths in Sweden for individuals interested in the technical and methodological development. As from April 2023 such a career path is available at Karolinska Institutet
New professorship at Karolinska Institutet centred on prevention
Thanks to donations from numerous actors, Karolinska Institutet is now able to create a new professorship in prevention medicine. The professorship is named after its patron, HRH Prince Daniel. The position will be advertised in 2023 and will be partly clinical in order to smooth the passage of new knowledge into practice.
