WIS/KI Strategic Alliance

Grants to promote scientific exchange between Karolinska Institutet and Weizmann Institute of Science

Karolinska Institutet (KI) and the Weizmann Institute of Science (WIS) announce grants for short term visits of scientists and research students between the two institutions in all research areas of mutual interest.

Researchers may apply for grants to cover increased living costs for exchange visits. The grants are intended to cover travel (economy class flight), accommodation and subsistence costs at the level € 60/day in Israel or € 90/day in Sweden. In addition €2000 will be provided to the laboratory which will host the exchange visitor.

Up to six grants, maximum € 6000 each, will be awarded for 2015.

This exchange program is open to all members of both institutions: M.Sc. students, Ph.D. students, post-docs, staff scientists and PI’s, in all areas of research. Applications relating to ongoing collaborations as well as such intended to build new bridges are welcome. The newly established Strategic Alliance between WIS and KI will also encourage interdisciplinary efforts including clinical research, computation, physics and mathematics.

Application materials (in English): (1) Research proposal and justification– no more than two pages; (2) CV and list of publications; (3) Letter of recommendation (not required for PI’s); (4) Letter of approval from host.

Selection of candidates will be made jointly by a review committee comprising representatives from both institutions. Expert referee input will be sought when appropriate expertise is not available in the selection committee.
