Symposium on Air Quality and Health
Welcome to a Symposium on Air Quality and Health 30th September in Stockholm
Time: 30th September 2014 08:00-14:00 (incl lunch)
Venue: Jernkontoret, Kungsträdgårdsgatan 10, Stockholm
Participants: the symposium is aimed at local politicians and officers who are responsible for or work with environmental, traffic and health-related issues, but others are welcome too.
Background to the symposium
Air quality is of major importance to the individual's health. Children who grow up in big cities have an increased risk of developing asthma, allergies and decreased lung function. For sensitive groups, such as the elderly and those with heart problems, exposure to air pollution can increase symptoms and result in early death.
The theme air quality and health will be presented from different perspectives. The aim is to increase current knowledge about how the air that is surrounding us can result in, or worsen existing, airway diseases.
The symposium is organised by the Centre for Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the Stockholm County Council, together with CfA. The symposium is part of the world-wide campaign "Healthy Lungs for Life", organised by the European Lung Foundation and the European Respiratory Society.
The symposium will be held in Swedish.
The programme and a link to registration is available here. The deadline for registration is 25th September.
