Research Projects | Global and Sexual Health

Current research projects conducted in the Global and Sexual Health research group at the Department of Public Health Sciences.

The Global and Sexual Health research group focuses on HIV and Sexual and Reproductive Health an Rights (SRHR), and promoting equity in sexual and reproductive health services, prevention, treatment and care of infectious diseases.

Our overarching research includes the study of real-life effectiveness of implementing treatment and prevention programmes in resource poor and/or high-risk settings, sexual and reproductive health of vulnerable groups including: ​migrants, adolescents and young people, pregnant women, transgender, and men who have sex with men. 

We focus on:

  • Prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT) of HIV; 
  • Adolescent health, Quality of Life, and Aging with HIV;
  • Economic Evaluations associated with HIV​;
  • Risk behaviours and health-seeking behaviours;​
  • SRHR studies of ethnic relations, integration and migration;​​​
  • Emerging infectious diseases in low and middle-income countries.
