Research description

My research interests are in the area of pediatric epidemiology, particularly in allergic diseases and neurodevelopmental disorders. My research explores the contribution of genetic and environmental factors for asthma and autism spectrum disorders, to improve the understanding of the etiology of each disease and the comorbidity in population.

With the advantage of high quality Swedish registry resources and the data linkage via the unique personal identification number, it is possible for us to make use of information about kinship, health, mobility, socio-economic and demographic characteristics on the individual, household, and neighborhood level longitudinally.

Several of my research projects are specificly to investigate:

1. The role of parental socio-economic status in preschool asthma

2. The association of traffic-related air pollution exposed in pre-and post-natal life and autism spectrum disorders

3. The association of parental asthma, maternal asthma medication use during pregnancy and offspring autism spectrum disorders

4. The familial co-aggregation of asthma and autism spectrum disorders
