I am a PhD-student at the Department of Clinical Science and Education at Karolinska Institutet, Södersjukhuset since January 2013. I have participated in the KI SÖS School of Clinical Research.
2010 – M.Sc. cell biology at the Åbo Akademi University, Finland. Topic for masters thesis ”The role of protein kinase C-isoenzymes and Nedd 4-2 for the ceramid induced ubiquitination and internalization of HERG-potassium channels”.
My thesis project is a part of the prospective birth cohort study ALADDIN (Assessment of Lifestyle and Allergic Disease During INfancy). We study allergy development in children and try to identify lifestyle related factors that contribute to allergy protection. My project aims to investigate if organic and inorganic environmental pollutants affect allergy development in children.
My supervisor is MD, PhD Johan Alm, a pediatrician and allergy specialist at Södersjukhuset and researcher at KI SÖS. Additionally I have two co-supervisors, analytical chemist PhD Axel Mie at KI SÖS and toxicologist Prof. Marie Vahter at the Institute of Environmental Medicine, Karolinska Institutet.
