About me

  • PhD student 75%
    University teacher 25%
    I am a part-time PhD student (75%) and part-time university teacher (25%) at
the Division of Nursing, Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and
Society, at Karolinska institutet. My early academic background includes a
BSc and MSc in Psychology. I later decided I wanted to become a registered
nurse and completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Care. I have worked
several years in the field of haematology as a registered nurse, both abroad
and in Sweden. As a university teacher, I am mainly involved in clinical
student and placements clinical training skills for undergraduate students in
    Nursing at Karolinska Institutet.
Bachelor of Science, Psychology, Goldsmiths College, University of London,
    1998.
Master of Science, Psychology, University of Exeter, 2003.
Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing (Adult), University of Greenwich, 2008.

Research

  • My PhD research focuses on the return-to-work process after an allogeneic
    haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT).
To return to work after long-term sickness absence is an important goal for
allo-HSCT survivors. To return to gainful employment after a very long and
intensive treatment that requires full-time sickness absence improves your
quality of life. Research regarding the occupational situation for other
cancer diagnoses has increased over the last few years. However, there is a
lack of research on the occupational situation of allo-HSCT survivors, which
limits both health care staff and other relevant resources, in their
knowledge and support for this young patient group.
As a PhD student, I am part of Yvonne Wengström's research group.
