About me

I am a doctoral student in Eva Koseks group at the Department of Clinical
Neuroscience. In parallell to this I am a physician (MD) working as a
resident oncologist at the Blekinge Hospital in Karlskrona.

Research

My doctoral project aims to increase the understanding of underlying
pathophysiological mechanisms involved in the regulation of pain, with a
specific focus on chronic pain, where endogenous pain modulation is
dysfunctional. We use methods to assess pain modulation (exercise-induced
hypoalgesia and conditioned pain modulation), assessments of neural
processing (functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging) as well as psychological
evaluations and relate them to genetic variants involved in opioid- and
serotonergic transmission in chronic pain patients and healthy controls. The
work surrounds the hypothesis of aberrant central mechanisms being involved
the chronification of pain with a focus on opioid and serotonergic brain
signaling.
