Research

  • Migration and post-migration factors are known to increase the risk of mental health conditions and psychosocial distress, which in turn can aggravate the symptoms and negatively impact the integration process into society. In addition, refugees and forced migrants have higher risk of mental health problems but a lower degree of mental health care utilisation compared to the general population. My PhD-project aims to evaluate the implementation of interventions focused on improving assessment and management of newly arrived migrants' mental health in primary health care. In particular, the project will consider the implementation process and how factors related to the context might influence the extent of which the interventions are implemented according to plan in: (i). a multimodal community intervention aiming to increase mental healthcare seeking among newly arrived minors (0-17 y), part of the project "Tidiga Insatser för Nyanlända Barn" (TINA)/"Breaking barriers for care" and (ii). a screening procedure for early detection of mental health problems for asylum seekers and other newly arrived migrants (14> y)
