Robot-assisted surgery allows for 3D visualization and extended and high articulated mobility. This results in an excellent visualization and enables a more precise surgical technique. KTC and KERIC at Karolinska University Hospital offer skills training courses, with incremental levels of difficulty (progressive learning) before surgery is performed on patients. We use ProMis ® hybrid simulator, Da Vinci robot simulator and the Ross robot simulator for skills training, which both objectively measure how the surgeon performs. The simulators have been validated for this type of skill training (PROMIS " Can serve as a Da Vinci ® Simulator - A Construct Validity Study, 2010, Validation of Simulation Ross, 2011).

Robotassisted Surgery Course level 1

Target group

For residents undergoing skill training or experienced surgeons who want to fresh up their skills. The level 1 course is not intended for operations on patients and should be supplemented with course level 2 for that purpose.

Objectives

By progressive learning on simulators reach a validated surgical skill level

Course

  • Theoretical learning through a web-based learning platform.
  • Virtual simulator training with Ross robot simulator.
  • Virtual simulator training with Intutitive skills simulator.
  • Hybrid Simulator training with ProMis simulator connected to the Da Vinci robot system.
  • Surgical skills level assessment at the end of the course.

Fee

500 Euro/person, 2-3 participants at each course.

Target group

Practicing surgeons with or without earlier experience of robot-assisted surgery. General surgery, Endocrine surgery, Gynecology and Urology.

Objectives

By dry and wet-lab training achieve a validated skills level to be able to perform robot-assisted surgery on patients.

Course

  • Theoretical learning by web-based learning platform.
  • Virtual simulator training with Ross robot simulator.
  • Hybrid Simulator training with Promis ® connected to the Da Vinci robot.
  • Wet-lab skills training.
  • Skills assessment at the end of the course.

Fee
