Risk factors for post-partum psychoses

Apart from family history of psychoses, few background factors have consistently been associated with increased risks of psychotic symptom around child birth. The present study aimed at identifying those at higher risk of first episode psychosis.

Project description

The project was carried out between 2002-2013 with funding from NARSAD: The Mental Health Research Association. The main focus was on:

  • familial and environmental risk factors for post-partum psychosis
  • pre- and perinatal risk factors among first- time mothers not earlier diagnosed with a psychiatric disorder
  • overall and age-specific cumulative incidence of post-partum psychosis
