Half time at the doctoral education

A half time review is carried out in order to check that the doctoral student is making progress with their study objectives. The half time review is to be conducted for each doctoral student who plans to take a doctoral degree.

All applications must be submitted to the departmental study administrator at Alfred Nobels Allé 8, 8th floor, at least 3 weeks prior to the half time review.

The following documentation must be attached:

  • Description of the scientific progress and the progress of learning within the doctoral education project (2-4 pages)

  • A literature review of the research field (normally about 8 pages excluding references)

  • Plan for the future doctoral education (1-2 pages)

  • Reflection about ethical considerations within the project (This more extensive half-time summary is compulsory for all doctoral students performing their half-time review from April 1, 2015. Doctoral students who perform their half-time review before this date may follow the previous instructions, i.e.: Summary of the scientific basis and progress within the project and plan for the future education (4-6 pages), including references to appropriate ethical permits and a list of publications and manuscripts included (Title, authors, journal, year, volume, pages)

  • Individual study plan (the original, or an updated version, if available)

  • Extract from LADOK (new printout)

  • Copy of annual follow-up(s)

  • Copies of all ethical approvals (both applications and decisions)

  • Publications and manuscripts that are included in the half-time review, if any.

  • Copies of the complete application with appendices are to be sent to the members of the board at least two weeks prior to the half time review. Instructions to the board for the half time review and forms for the review (minutes) are also to be sent to the board members.
