Sushmitha Sathiyamoorthy chose to go to Karolinska Institutet largely because her professor in Singapore spoke warmly of the university's high research output. But, she adds, the international community and renowned faculty was the most important factor when choosing where to undertake her master's degree.
The programme has so far met her expectations.
'I love that my programme is an amalgam of theory and practical based learning. We have a perfect concoction of lectures, exams, presentations and group work - for an all round personality. And of course with a class of delightful people from all over the world, studying at Karolinska Institutet so far has been a fun-filled ride.'
One of her fondest memories of her time in Sweden has to do with the people she has met during the semester.
'The most vivid of my memories is the cruise trip to Helsinki with my classmates and several others from Karolinska Institutet. It was an extremely fun weekend and I look forward to more exciting things in the near future.'
She hopes to launch her own career within the pharmaceutical industry in India, and thinks that a degree from Karolinska Institutet will help get her there.
With the world-wide reputation that Karolinska Institutet has, the fact that my master's degree is from there would be surely beneficial when I apply for jobs anywhere on the globe.
