Position: PhD student at the Dept. of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics (MEB).
For Fei, it was the reputation of Karolinska Institutet that motivated him to pursue his PhD in Medical Epidemiology. His research focuses on Parkinson’s disease and the department he works in is the largest one in Northern Europe that focuses on research and education on medical epidemiology and biostatistics.
Fei enjoys Sweden’s nature and outdoor activities, like snowboarding and climbing, but it is really his work environment that he loves the most.
I love working here, staying at my office, having lunch with colleges, but also snowboarding and climbing with them. ‘Fika’ and parties are never missed with them.”
His work environment is stimulating and he feels that his colleagues challenge and inspire him, helping him to further develop his ideas.
When I have an idea, I can share with colleges to make those ideas more creative, productive.”
Fei hopes to combine his knowledge of medicine, public health, epidemiology, statistics, and business in his future career, perhaps with a consultancy company. For now, though, he is enjoying blogging KI as it is a way to show the world what researchers do!
I want to share a part of my life with future PhD students and the public. It may help them and me to better understand what is the medical research at KI, how are they conducted, and who are doing those research. In addition, such alternative of blogging may also serve as a channel for my future employer to know me, which makes easier to land my future career.”
