Vernissage: We Are All Involved - Voices from The Face of AIDS Film Archive
Welcome to the opening of the exhibition We Are All Involved: Voices from The Face of AIDS Film Archive at Karolinska Institutet University Library in Flemingsberg on World AIDS Day, December 1 2017 at 2 pm.
Presentations will be given by film director Staffan Hildebrand as well as researcher Daniel Normark.
The exhibition tells the story of the HIV epidemic through the films in the Face of AIDS Film Archive. Here we meet some of the people interviewed over the years, and get to know their stories - activists, patients, doctors, researchers, and many others. The exhibition begins in the 80s with reports of an unknown and fatal disease, and continues to this day when it is possible to live a long and healthy life with HIV. It also reminds us that the work against HIV is not over, and that we all are still involved.
Since 1986, Swedish film director and journalist Staffan Hildebrand has documented the global impact of the HIV and AIDS epidemic. He has produced about 700 hours of footage from more than forty countries. In 2013, the Face of AIDS Film Archive was handed over to Karolinska Institutet. As a public user it is possible to search through and look at approximately 350 films on the archive website. The full archive of more than 2,000 films is available to researchers, teachers and students via login.
You can read more about the unique archive in this blog post.
