1st year global master’s student? Want to be ahead of the game?
Welcome to an afternoon focusing on you and your future career possibilities! We will cover networking, LinkedIn, skills and talents inventory and interview training.
You can attend two out of the four workshops, which will run in parallel. The first session is between 13.00-14.30 and the second from 15.00-16.30.
Sign up for you two favourite workshops and add a third option as seats are limited to 40 in each workshop. We will do our best when assigning the seats. Read more about the workshops and the presenters below.

A strong professional network is more useful to your career than you might think, connecting you with key opportunities, introducing you to valuable mentors, helping you to find useful information and creating positive relationships with colleagues. At the same time networking is probably simpler than you expect, once you understand the basic principles that make it work. In this 90-minute interactive workshop you will learn why networking works and why we need it, together with some practical techniques that will make your networking efforts in face-to-face meetings and online immediately more effective and less stressful.
Speaker: Andrew Hennigan is a lecturer, freelance journalist and speaker coach based in Stockholm who teaches networking and influencing workshops for companies, business schools and universities. He is also author of the book “Payforward Networking” based on his business school courses and writes regularly about networking and influencing techniques.

In this interactive work session, leading LinkedIn expert Mary-Rose Hoja shows you how to use LinkedIn to showcase your skills and make inroads to relevant companies for your next career step. Bring your laptop and get ready to upgrade your profile, position, and presence.
Speaker: LinkedIn expert and KI alumna Mary-Rose Hoja helps KI students and researchers position, package and successfully take their next career step. She is featured in TED and career profiled by Science. Her popular article "5 fantastic cover letter opening lines" has over 50K views and she continues to receive letters of thanks from people who landed jobs because of it.
Soft skill and Talent Training for MSc Students
After the MSc studies, you have laid the foundation for your career but what makes you special? While it is our technical competence that opens doors for our first job in industry, it's your understanding of how to use your soft skills that define if you will succeed in your career. By understanding your soft skills you will improve your communication with your future manager and colleagues, you will also better perform during interviews. On long term you will improve your self-awareness and build a stronger confidence.

Goal: Insight to your Drives and Motivation and your Talents. In seminar you will perform a mini- self assessment of your Personality and Communication style.
Speaker: Dr Tina Persson is a Global Academic Career Coach, Recruiter & Search Specialist, and Expert in Digital Transformation, Founder of the PodCast, PhD Career Stories, a podcast made by PhDs for PhDs in career development. She is also owner of her own company, Passage2Pro and also inventor and owner of Aptahem AB, a start-up company in the biotechnology field.

Speaker: Anna Rennermalm is a Recruitment Consultant focused on scientists in specialist and managerial positions She holds a PhD in clinical bacteriology from Karolinska Institutet. During her PhD-studies she participated in the Board of Recruitment at KI. She has worked with career service and recruitment at KI and several years with recruitment of scientists at the largest recruitment company within life science in Sweden. Today she runs her own company, Search4S.
