Need help getting your personal number? Master's and PhD students can swing by the Education Support Office to meet representatives from Skatteverket who will talk them through the whole process.

International students who study in Sweden for more than 2 semesters (12 months or longer) can apply for a 10-digit Swedish personal identity number, ‘personnummer’ from the Swedish Tax Agency ‘Skatteverket’. The Tax Agency will set up temporary office to receive drop-in applications at Education Support office/UFS reception, on the 5th floor of Berzelius väg 3 on 4 September between 9am and 2pm.

What to bring

  • Valid passport proving your citizenship (or national ID for EU/EEA citizens)
  • Invitation Letter/Notification of Selection Results as proof of admission to KI (length of studies)
  • Registration certificate (proof of enrolment)
  • Information regarding your (temporary) address in Sweden, including apartment number
  • Residence permit card + decision (Non EU/EEA citizens)
  • Assurance signed by yourself that you have sufficient funds to support yourself during your stay (EU/EEA citizens)
  • Valid European Health Insurance card  (EU/EEA citizens)
  • If applicable: Documents proving marital status (original or a certified copy)
  • If applicable: Birth certificates for children (original or a certified copy)
